Centrifugal fans are popular industrial fans today. The manufacturer recommends that users maintain the centrifugal fan periodically for 1 day, 1 week, or at least 1 month after use. In this article, System Fan Global provides some maintenance steps for centrifugal fans. Helping the user to self-maintain the centrifugal fan.
Here is the list of centrifugal fan maintenance problems:
Make sure the power is off
Before servicing the centrifugal fan, the servicer should ensure that the fan is disconnected from the power supply. The fuse is removed, ensuring that the fan is not restarted accidentally.
Check the connections
Check if the bolts and screws are loose. During operation, the bolts may loosen, need to tighten the bolts to make the fan more secure.
Check bearings
Regular maintenance helps to prolong the life of bearings. Original lubricated bearings on fan bearings. After a period of operation, they are exposed to moisture, high temperatures, or dirt, which can affect the performance of the bearings. Therefore, when servicing, it is necessary to lubricate the fan bearing with high-quality oil/grease. Do not mix different greases. As they can be incompatible, lubrication leads to ring damage, clogging, and premature bearing failure.
Lubricating the bearing needs to be sure not to apply too much or too little lubricating oil/grease. Excessive lubrication can cause bearings to overheat. If you put too much grease, remove the coupling to let the excess grease out. Too little lubrication makes the bearing not operate smoothly, and the bearing makes noise.
Check fan motor
Checking the engine periodically helps keep the engine clean and the air vents clear. The motor’s bearings have been factory-lubricated. Periodic lubrication of the motor bearings should be as recommended by the fan manufacturer. Excessive or frequent lubrication can damage the engine.
Check belts (for indirect centrifugal fans)
During operation, dirt and grease are likely to adhere to the belt. This may lead to a reduction in the life of the belt.
During use, the belt should be cleaned with a dry cloth to remove the accumulation of dust. If the belt is covered with grease, methyl chloroform, or soap water can be used to clean it. It is not recommended to use flammable cleaning agents such as gasoline to ensure safety.
If the belt needs to be removed, never “roll” or “pry” the belt into the pulley grooves. This may damage the belt.
Propeller cleaning
Dirt can stick to the fan blades over many days of use. Therefore, it is recommended to clean the fan blades to prevent dust from sticking to the fan blades, and the fan will work better.
Check for potential corrosion locations
Check the locations that are prone to corrosion such as wheels, bearings, belts, pulleys… Replace them if they are corroded, make sure all parts are free of problems.
Above are some basic issues when maintaining a centrifugal fan. In addition, users may experience some problems when using centrifugal fans. Refer to the list of errors and how to fix them in the table below.
